After careful thought we have decided to split our blog posts into two. From now on the children and youth will have their own blog, and the project itself will have this one. It will be useful to keep them separate, mainly because the Children's Blog really will be their own, and everything within it will come exclusively from them.
We hope the new blog format will prove helpful and interesting, so keep coming back to see what is happening in Harare!

Africaid
Africaid is registered in Zimbabwe as a provider of psychosocial support to children and youth affected by HIV / AIDS. Established in 2006 it now provides such care to over 600 HIV+ve kids within its Zvandiri Programme, organised within 20 communities throughout Harare.
In 2009 Africaid was selected as a site of Best Practice within Zimbabwe.
The main thrust of our work is to provide support and encouragement to these children, to educate them about living positively, and then to train them to reach out to other children in the same situation and to use our training materials and techniques to educate them as well.
For example, during 2010 six teams of Africaid kids will seek to train over 1000 more children about how to live with HIV and to develop into positive adulthood.
Africaid receives funding from a variety of sources, from major international bodies such as UNICEF, USAID and Children First to embassies in Harare, private individuals and Maruva Trust - its parent registered Charity in the UK.
